New Hire Orientation

While job vacancies remain hard to fill, Hawaii employers may spend less time ensuring that new hires are properly welcomed into the workplace and set up to succeed in their jobs.  The provision of an orientation and onboarding experience that is useful to new hires is a key component for ensuring their retention.  During the month of November, we recommend that you devote some time to the review and evaluation of your orientation program.  We have provided several resources, including an updated Guide to Preparing a New Hire Orientation Program and New Hire Checklist, to assist you in this work.  Additional resources related to new hires, including forms on employment history records and reference checks, information on Fair Credit Reporting Act Compliance in the Hiring Process, and links to COBRA notices and Child Support Enforcement Agency reporting information, can also be found by logging into the HEC website.
